BC: Presenting the CTF's Budget Recommendations to John Cummins

Author: Jordan Bateman 2011/11/07

This morning, I had the pleasure of meeting and chatting with BC Conservative Party leader John Cummins at a coffee shop in Langley. Cummins is the former Delta MP whose Tories have surged into a strong third place in recent BC political polls.

I presented our 2012-13 pre-budget recommendations to Mr. Cummins, and we had a great discussion on everything from the federal political landscape to our mutual distaste for gas taxes and the Medical Services Premium.

On Friday, Cummins learned that his party is now at 18% in the polls, and are a genuine presence in BC politics. He said he plans to stay the course, and continue to push fiscal conservative values forward.

It’s a very fluid time in BC politics, with new leaders at the helm of the three biggest parties, and each trying to define who they are to voters. We will be watching their fiscal platforms very closely over the next 18 months, as we build toward the May 2013 election.
